easyJet expands flights to Copenhagen

Budget carrier easyJet is expanding its services between London Gatwick and Copenhagen with an early morning departure from Copenhagen and an evening departure from London Gatwick. The approach will see easyJet’s flights boosted from 3 to 4 every day from 24 May 2013.

Paul Simmons, easyJet’s UK Director said: “We are actively improving our product choice, flexibility, availability and quality to help our business passengers by offering early morning and evening flights seven days a week which are supplemented by two afternoon departures.

“Our flights to Copenhagen are available from as little as £29.99** (one way including taxes) and we deliver outstanding value with our regular fares proven to be cheaper in eight out of ten occasions and flexi fares nine out of ten, so it really does make business sense to fly easyJet.”

easyJet has also enhanced the number of flights from London Gatwick to the Croatian cities of Split and Dubrovnik as well as Nice in France and currently also serves Copenhagen from Bristol, Edinburgh and London Stansted.

Record month at Birmingham International Airport

Birmingham airport claims to have beaten all other UK airports in terms of passenger growth during the month of August. Passenger numbers increased in excess of 9% to more than 1 million in the peak summer month

“The growth in passenger numbers for the month was higher than at any other UK airport during the same period,” the airport said.

August was the 4th most popular month in the airport’s history and the 9th time the airport has passed the 1 million passenger level.

Chief executive Paul Kehoe said: “August has been a fantastic month for us in terms of passenger numbers. It is particularly pleasing to learn we were the best performing airport in the UK, clearly demonstrating there is strong demand to fly from Birmingham.

“We have seen encouraging signs particularly from our leisure passengers, who have decided to take advantage of the extra capacity and new routes now served by Monarch, including Barcelona and Nice.

“Traditional summer sun destinations including Palma, Alicante and Malaga also proved to be tremendously popular in August.”

He added: “We are now turning our attention to the winter season ahead, making sure we continue the great results we have achieved this summer.

“With new routes planned to commence in the coming months, including the launch of EasyJet’s daily service to Belfast International, SAS launching their new route to Stockholm and Ryanair now serving Milan and Krakow, this is great news for our business community and those seeking city breaks.”

Plans for a Thomas Cook and easyJet tie up

Thomas Cook is on the verge of signing a deal to book thousands of seats on low-cost airline easyJet. The tour operator said the move was imminent and will cover about 80,000 trips, representing 3% of Thomas Cook’s capacity.

easyJet confirmed it had entered into an agreement with Thomas Cook to provide a ‘limited’ number of seats for its summer 2013 packages.

A spokesman said: “This is a normal commercial business arrangement for easyJet and is similar to other contracts the airline has entered into in the past.

“As with any commercial contracts of this nature we will not comment on the detail.”

Rob Thompson, director of aviation and capacity planning for Thomas Cook UK & Ireland said: “This is great news for our customers; by bringing together the overseas expertise of Thomas Cook, with easyJet’s flexibility as a truly scheduled airline, we’re taking the modern package holiday to a new level.

“Together, we’re offering a range of flight options to 21 destinations from nine regional UK airports, throughout the summer season in 2013. Many of our holidaymakers will now be able to choose from even more flight options, combining Thomas Cook, the best known name in travel and Easyjet, an excellent European airline, safe in the knowledge that their holiday is fully protected.”

No Exclusions Limited launches unique ‘Missed Flight Cover’ with easyJet

Visit Car Hire Assistant for a Quote! No Exclusions Limited, a private UK registered company, today announced the launch of an innovative new policy offering the airline passenger peace of mind protection against the cost of a new ticket, when any unforeseen circumstances mean that they miss their flight.

In a new agreement with Mondial Assistance, No Exclusions will offer UK customers of easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, the opportunity to purchase Missed Flight Cover.

Missed Flight Cover enables an airline passenger to continue on their journey, with an immediate option (at the airport) of a new ticket on the next available flight at no additional cost, OR the choice of a full flight refund.

Recent consumer research commissioned by No Exclusions identifies that a significant proportion of travellers have an inherent fear of missing their flight.  Last month an independent survey (conducted by One Poll June 2012) also highlighted passenger concern about arriving on time at the airport, with 71% of respondents claiming to sleep restlessly, or not at all, before a morning flight.  Across the UK, an average 43% of passengers say they will even consider staying at an airport hotel in order to alleviate this travel stress before flying.

New Missed Flight Cover should make their worries a thing of the past, offering a practical solution should passengers miss their flight.  With a completely unique approach to claims handling, passengers are offered immediate assistance at the airport, at no additional cost.  The policy is simple to understand, with no exclusions, excesses or claims paperwork.  It also covers the cost of any flight related services such as reserved seating, speedy boarding, hold luggage, credit card and booking fees.

Simply by registering their claim at the airline Sales Desk at the airport within four hours after the (missed) flight’s scheduled departure, the policyholder will receive immediate assistance to re-book their flight or obtain a refund.

Missed Flight Cover is available at just £7.50 single flight or £9.50 return, alongside a flight booking on easyJet.com.

Andrew Lothian, No Exclusions’ CEO commented: “We are extremely proud to have designed and developed Missed Flight Cover and are thrilled that easyJet will be the first airline to launch the policy.  We believe it provides an innovative and effective solution to a proven passenger concern and are confident that uptake will prove popular.”

Mark Brown, Category Manager, easyJet “We’re delighted to be the first airline to offer Missed Flight Cover to our passengers, which we think perfectly complements our existing range of travel insurance products”.
